East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Workforce Development Coordinator! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun. 
 
As the Workforce Development Coordinator, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable developing partnerships to result in recruiting, mentoring, internships, and job placement opportunities for the department. You will be an active member of the Career and Workplace Development team and will work closely with the Director of Career and Workplace Development to Manage client relation management systems such as Handshake along with the Workforce and Economic Development Network program (WEDnetPA). You will thrive in this role if you like combining your interpersonal and recruitment experience while maintaining workforce development partnerships. To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent attention to detail, outstanding network-focused interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
 

Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You may have to flex your schedule to work evenings and weekends from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Workforce Development Coordinator10% travel is required for the role. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.


What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Conduct industry site visits to cultivate new partnerships and promote academic programs/services with emphasis on experiential learning, internships, job placement, and verifications. Strategically identify and build relationships with regional, state, national, and international employers for the recruitment of students and alumni. 
  • Recruit new employers through outreach and networking with community, faculty, and alumni networks. 
    Assist the Director with the WEDnetPA Program which involves the administration and allocation of grant funding to support workforce training opportunities in PA in collaboration with the University’s WEDnetPA executive contract.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of employer recruitment and industry specific events including classroom presentations and career expos. 
  • Serve as one of ESU’s liaisons on the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) & University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) 
  • Identify Internship/Job Shadow opportunities and maintain the Jobs/Internships postings on the Handshake database. 
  • Facilitate interviews and provide quality referrals to employers for employment and internships and maintain an updated internal student candidate pool.  
  • Prepare students for employment by providing workforce tools that enhance job search skills and expand employment opportunities. 
  • Assist in the preparation of workforce development and continuing education grants.  
  • Coordinate and manage People Grove, the alumni/community mentoring platform. 
  • Collaborate with the ESU Alumni Association to identify alumni mentors and to create successful mentoring matches for undergraduate and graduate students. 
  • Develop and deliver presentations: classes, athletics, student organizations, academic departments, and other groups to promote involvement in mentorship and scale recruitment efforts.  
  • Performs related work as required. 

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Human Resources, or related field. Master’s degree in business management or human Resources or related field preferred. 
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in human resources, talent acquisition, or career and workforce development. 
  • Excellent English communication and comprehension skills including written and verbal skills; can demonstrate quickly building rapport with not previously known individuals; quickly identify the needs of others. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including initiating conversations with business individuals; generates synergy in conversation, promotes participative engagement, and establishes positive working relationships. 
  • Able to develop engaging presentations and speak publicly as a SME in career and workforce planning. 
  • Skillfully pivot between work assignments and community engagement. 
  • 1+ year of experience working with Handshake and People Grove preferred. 
  • 1+ year of experience with WEDnetPA preferred.  
  • Valid Drivers License. 
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
