Description
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting for a new lead for our western Oregon Wildlife Research Program. This position is located in Roseburg, Oregon, and works closely with field and Wildlife Division programs to conduct research with applied management focus. Current projects include research on black-tailed deer fawn survival and habitat selection; forest carnivore work including Sierra Nevada red fox, fisher, and marten; ringtail ecology in western Oregon; post-fire wildlife recovery monitoring; Columbian white-tailed deer survival and habitat use; and Roosevelt elk winter range and migration corridor use. This position provides a great opportunity to work with state agency wildlife management, as well as collaborate with university and federal research programs. Come join our team!
Qualifications
• Highly specialized expertise and advanced education, analytical, and technical skills related to wildlife research. • Knowledge and skills in using complex analytical software, computer applications, electrical survey equipment, optical and photographic equipment, animal monitoring equipment including satellite telemetry, animal capture and immobilization drugs and equipment, all forms of motorized equipment, horses and tack, and a variety of other technical research equipment. • Expert knowledge of animal physiology and nutrition, plant and animal ecology, experimental design, sampling and biometrical methodologies. • Experience making oral presentations to professional and public organizations and interact with the public in clear and concise manner. • The person in this position must be able to work collaboratively with representatives from a variety of state, federal, and non-governmental organizations.
