Title: Wildlife Ecologist - Fort Collins, CO Location: Fort Collins, Colorado Full job description: https://jobs.colostate.edu/postings/119330 Full Consideration Application Date: 01/23/2023 Salary Range: $40,000 to $50,000 Position Summary: The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations. The Wildlife Ecologist will develop wildlife survey methodologies, oversee and implement wildlife and habitat surveys, participate in wildlife conservation and planning, conduct population modeling, evaluate impact of military operations on wildlife populations and provide other support as needed for Department of Defense and other federal partners. Will contribute to analysis of climate change impacts to installation wildlife species and their habitats. This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team that works together to analyze complex wildlife and ecosystem interactions and how they are affected by military operations and climate change. This position is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. Beginning Monday, August 16, 2021, Colorado State University has mandated vaccinations against COVID-19. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, wildlife biology, wildlife ecology, wildlife conservation or closely-related field. • One year experience implementing natural resource management activities including assessments of birds, game species, reptiles, threatened and endangered species and/or aquatic species populations and habitat. • Broad experience in wildlife literature reviews. • Expertise in data analysis including distance sampling, population modeling and related techniques • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date. • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
