The Web And Information Designer, under direction, designs and produces a variety of graphical imagery, animations and other multimedia-rich applications. Manages architectures of websites, including content management system (CMS) and advising of staff. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of professional web design and development experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise documentation, reports, and specifications
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to coordinate multiple, simultaneous priorities
  • Ability to execute projects to meet established deadlines
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills with an ability to address multiple assignments in a demanding environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, be self-motivated, task-oriented, and exercise initiative
  •  Proficiency in WordPress administration, website analytics setup, HTML development, CSS, and PHP. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and university requirements on web security and accessibility, and the ability to direct compliance in these areas
  • Expertise with best practices in information architecture, user-centric design methodology, and usability principles to create an effective user experience
  • Working knowledge of web usability guidelines

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years website administration, maintenance, and multi-site (internet and intranet) management experience through websites, social and other technological media
  • Five years of experience in website administration, maintenance, multi-site (internet and intranet) management, and user experience management
  • Experience maintaining multiple mobile-friendly websites (internet and intranet)
  • Experience managing academic websites
  • Experience coordinating content management systems
  • Experience in higher education and supporting digital operations for a large institution

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Mastery of HTML, CSS, and open standards in web technologies
  • Strong sense of customer service

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Google Analytics Individual Qualification
  • Top SEO Certification

Responsibilities:

  • Digital Architecture and Administration - Coordinates the maintenance, efficiency, and functionality of Mays’ website architecture (internet and intranet). Administers and/or completes digital-technology-related work requests submitted by Mays departments, centers, and programs. Coordinates and administers user access control of Mays’ WordPress environment. Administers domains owned by Mays and related departmental units. Creates electronic forms that serve the various needs of the school. Maintains those forms and helps to collect necessary information to be relayed to various digital integrations. Maintains the website calendar functionality. Maintains the SiteImprove account to ensure repair and enforcement of broken links, misspellings, accessibility, issues, and content policies. Provides “real time” resolution of “bugs” and user problems based on user requests / reports and communicates the resolution to impacted parties.
  • Analytics - Monitors, assesses, and reports on website analytics.
  • SEO - Conducts SEO audits to increase organic search engine results. Works with content contributors to develop keywords that upon which website content should be focused. Monitors SEO rankings to enhance and alter SEO strategy. Utilizes SEO tools and services to provide reports and trends as requested by key stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned.
