This excellent job opportunity is for individuals looking to join our Digital Services and Analytics team as a Web Software Developer.
Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and managing complex websites for divisions of the university. Writes content, designs layout, and integrates graphic design. Also coordinates with UTD Web Services staff to ensure web design that fits into the overall UTD web policies, style, and technology.
The ideal candidate should also have:
  • Professional web design experience with a solid understanding of graphic design.
  • Knowledge remediating browser compatibility issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Systems, Arts and Technology or related field; two years experience in Web application software development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Master¹s in Computer Science
  • 2-3 years of experience with front-end web development using HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and JavaScript
  • 2-3 years of experience in developing web applications using PHP and MySQL
  • At least 1 year of experience with WordPress or any other PHP based CMS
  • Solid understanding of database design/implementation and managing MySQL databases
  • Experience in Android application development
  • Experience in Responsive web design
  • Knowledge remediating browser compatibility issues
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and write content through consultation with individual departments. Design web page layout, including content, visual graphics and navigational links. Write appropriate web code to ensure optimal web page functionality and design. Troubleshoot website problems and answer questions regarding appropriate solutions. Research and recommend appropriate new methods, techniques and software for state-of-the-art web design. Compile, analyze and report website utilization statistics. Conduct usability and testing groups to test websites for functionality, relevance to constituent needs and ease of use. Perform other duties as assigned.

Remote Work Notice
A hybrid remote work schedule may be available (currently 1-day remote weekly). Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time.
