What we want

The focus of the Web and Information Designer position will be on web development working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery. The Web and Information Designer position is responsible for providing technical leadership for division and university-level projects and operations, which relies on multiple technical fields; providing technical oversight for the application of and compliance with unit’s technical and accessibility standards; completing reports and summaries for management and/or users including, project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries. This will include the creating and implementing of websites that support the division and the university; web communications and strategy; content management; and customer support. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of professional web design and development experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, and SCSS.

  • Experience with debugging websites including desktop and mobile browsers.

  • Knowledge of WCAG and website accessibility standards.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Comfortable with design practices.

  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with git version control and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications.

  • Experience creating websites in a WordPress and/or Cascade content management system.

  • Experience with JavaScript and jQuery. Experience with PHP, MySQL/MariaDB, and Laravel.

Responsibilities

  • WEB DEVELOPMENT - Create websites supporting the division and the university. Provide campus leadership role among campus web community. Work closely with internal design team on all projects. Assist with HTML emails sent out by the division. Update content on websites.
  • WEB USER EXPERIENCE - Understand and apply Google analytics principles to website decisions. Apply design best practices for user experience. Implement and maintain accessibility standards for all web content.
  • PRODUCT & CUSTOMER SUPPORT - Responsible for WordPress administration and regular updates, cascade content management system, web application support, project management of small projects, customer support - both internal and across the university.
  • COMMITTEES & TRAININGS - Participate in cross-campus teams and committees to represent MarCom and network with other professionals. Participate in training to increase personal skill set. Performs other duties as assigned.
