Job Description Summary:
The Web Developer works in a team environment with other web developers and content specialists to develop and maintain web sites in a web content management system (CMS). This team member also assists in developing the site architecture for the intranet and migrates content into the new framework. The Web Developer works with departmental contacts to revise and edit content, organize content in the CMS and intranet, and create new pages and sites on both platforms (internet and intranet).

Annual Salary: $62,500 - $67,000

Job Description

  • Coordinate with departments to update content (text and images) for the public web site (kumc.edu) and the intranet (my.kumc.edu),
  • Evaluate organization and layout of web sites and implement appropriate information architecture changes,
  • Assist in designing and managing templates for departmental use,
  • Perform user administration in CMS, including assigning permissions and workflow,
  • Perform CMS system administration, including editing stylesheets, schemas, and associated layout and design files,
  • Administer analytics reporting for the kumc.edu site and other domains hosted by KU Medical Center

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Additional work experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis
  • 2 years web design and development experience, including HTML, CSS
  • Experience administrating a content management system, including design templates and user administration
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing and editing content for websites
  • Experience optimizing images for online use using Photoshop or other image editing software
  • Experience using or administering Ingeniux content management system
  • Experience designing user interfaces
  • Experience using wireframe and mockup tools
  • Experience implementing and/or managing an intranet
  • Experience in medical and/or higher education setting
  • Experience building sites in the modern SharePoint experience
  • Experience with ASP.NET MVC
  • Experience using GitHub
  • Experience with XML schemas and XSLT
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Related master's degree.
