The Ohio State University’s College of Social Work seeks a user experience and front-end Web Developer who is skilled in content creation and search engine optimization management with a marketing focus. Duties will include design, development and improvement of web pages, website content and web templates; enhancing user experience and accessibility; adopting protocols and overseeing analytic reporting.

The College of Social Work strives to expand its website reach; to foster engaging interactions with prospective students and parents, alumni, peers, faculty, staff and current students; to raise its user satisfaction, and to support marketing strategic goals with measurable outcomes. Desired candidates should demonstrate a high-level of content management system expertise in Word Press and Drupal, have a strong ability to research and implement search engine optimized keywords and content, and to continually stay abreast of emerging accessibility technologies.

  • Design, develop, maintain and improve web pages, user interfaces and interactive experiences for the college, and its centers, websites. Develop, implement, manage and improve web page templates, frameworks, style sheets and modules.
  • Conceptualize, draft, execute, and maintain website content that uses best practices for search engine optimization and is optimized for conversion. Implement SEO best practice strategies and conduct keyword research. Work with creative team to drive SEO in digital asset creation.
  • Improve user experience by analyzing web analytics data, and conducting and analyzing user testing, and implementing and sustaining user/constituent feedback activities. Oversee the monitoring and reporting of key analytics and provides relevant analysis and recommendations. Continuously learn, adopt and implement modern web development techniques and practices for mobile-first, fast-loading, user-centered web experiences. Communicate effectively with website hosting and developer partners.
  • Provide accessible web experiences that are compliant with federal, state, university and other regulations. Adopt protocols for web policies, ensure adherence to guidelines, and maintain monitoring systems for key web functions. Coordinate website brand identity in alignment with university brand standards.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

Five or more years of experience in content management systems.

Understanding of key website analytics

Extensive experience in search engine optimization (SEO) and creative applications (video, audio, written, custom graphics, etc.)

Experience working cross-functionally across the university.

Ability to work cooperatively and to discuss issues of importance with college leadership.
