Position Summary
Governors State University seeks to fill the position of Web Developer (IT Tech Associate). The Web Developer will provide technical support to the university web systems and maintain the enterprise information systems that support the University’s web functions, including main website, internal portal, calendaring, and document imaging. The incumbent will be responsible for Administering web servers, website, CMS, and Sharepoint. This includes management and support for Document Imaging, Web Calendar, and the Cloud applications.
The Web Developer will work closely with the Marketing department and the Web Governance Committee to market the university and increase enrollment. The incumbent will utilize web development tools and techniques to develop interfaces and create new functionality or expand current functionality using programming and APIs as applicable. The incumbent will provide support in the roll-out of faculty and student web server projects by identifying current student/faculty websites, and migrating pilot groups to new platforms.
Essential Responsibilities:
40% – Web presence management
  • Administer web servers, web sites, Ektron CMS (Content Management System), Intranet both Apache and IIS.
  • Document Imaging management and support.
  • Web calendar management and support.
  • Cloud application management and support.
  • Provide basic, intermediate, and advanced-level support for web technologies.
  • Work closely with Marketing and the web governance committee to market the university and increase enrollment.
  • Available 24/7 for emergency closings and emergency communications needs.

40% – Applications development support
  • Provides web development of pages, templates, modules, web parts, and other software development projects in support of the university web site and the university portal.
  • Utilizes web development tools and techniques to develop interfaces to create new functionality or expand current functionality using programming and APls as applicable. Support roll out of faculty and student web server projects by identifying current student/faculty web sites, and migrating pilot groups to new platforms.
  • Research and integrate new technology.

10% – System and business analysis
  • Evaluate tools to create web content and utilize web metrics.
  • Identify and analyze problems and solutions involving GSU’s web presence.

5% – Technical editing and training
  • Create online tutorials; document procedures for users and administrators of web-related and other computer software.
  • Train CMS content contributors, SharePoint and document imaging contributors.

5% – Other duties as assigned
Salary: $61,874
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED: COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or seeking a Bachelor’s degree in such.
• At least five (5) years supporting web systems in higher education environment.
• Three (3) years of demonstrable C# MVC experience.
• Content Management System (CMS) knowledge.
