The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida Center for Distributed Learning is seeking a new member for the Instructional Development (iDev) team. This position is responsible for creating and/or acquiring content for websites, email newsletters, video scripts, and other online communication channels. Requires an ability to work with various project teams, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, good organizational skills, and exceptional written and verbal skill.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Assisting the development of web-based professional development courses for UCF (University of Central Florida) faculty and staff.

  • Completing writing projects, which includes meeting deadlines and following content requirements in terms of style and project specifications.

  • Recommending best practices for online accessibility and course usability to faculty/staff who facilitate online non‐academic and professional development courses.

  • Assisting with the enrollment and completion process of self-paced professional development courses, which includes documenting completions, issuing certificates, and updating training credentials.

  • Assisting with the creation, tracking, and support of online non‐academic and professional development courses in the learning management system (LMS).

  • Assisting the development of eLearning content and other instructional resources such as videos, training scenarios, or screencasts for web pages, social media, and email platforms.

  • Drafting, editing, publishing, and posting content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections within social media channels.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree; or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven record of excellent writing, demonstrated in a professional portfolio.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including, but not limited to, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to demonstrate best practices in learning technologies and instructional design for course design and development process.

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with subject matter experts, project managers, and other stakeholders.

  • Basic understanding of responsive web design principles, HTML, CSS, and WordPress.

  • Experience using collaborative/social learning tools.

  • Knowledge of the current web trends, techniques, and technologies.

  • Familiar with best practices for creating accessible content while designing/developing courses and other forms of digital content.

  • Proficient in using Instructure Canvas or similar LMS.
