Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

FSU’s Office of Strategic Communication (OSC) is housed within the Office of the Chancellor. The OSC is charged with planning, creating, and implementing communication strategies to engage target audiences, including prospective students, current students, families of prospective and current students, faculty and staff, donors, partners, decision-makers, and the media. The purpose of the engagement is to increase enrollment, partnerships, support, and financial contributions, per FSU’s strategic plan.
Primary Purpose of the Position:

Web Content Manager reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Creative Services and is responsible for creating, managing, maintaining, and consulting on web-based content across FSU web properties. Primary responsibilities include implementing web content development and design, project management, and internal and external content creation and performance. This position is responsible for coordinating content efforts across all areas of the University, implementing a web editor committee, to train and instruct editors on assisting with edits related to their specific area of business within the University. The Web Content Manager will serve as project lead or co-lead, particularly with the Office of Information Technology Services, on university initiatives that extend across functional areas outside of the OSC, managing interdepartmental relationships and ensuring timely progress and effective completion.
Description of Work Continued:
Web Content Management – 60%
  • In collaboration with campus colleagues, he produces new web pages and features and maintains the accuracy, consistency, ADA compliance, optimization, functionality, and reliability of existing pages.
  • Provide thought leadership and act as a consultant, providing direction on best practices aligned to university goals and delivering intuitive desktop and mobile user experiences.
  • Leverage data analytics to create hypotheses around student behavior/journeys and develop tests to optimize student adoption and use of student services.
  • Collaborate and maintain strong relationships with project partners, manage the workflow of content and publication requests, understand business requirements for requests and provide recommendations, assess the scope, and prioritize accordingly.
  • Partner with technology, product managers, compliance, designers, external agencies, and vendors.


Communications – 20%:
  • Communicate proactively with colleagues, senior leadership, and industry leaders to stay current on best practices in web user experience, competitor user interface designs, and emerging technologies.
  • Influence stakeholders to adapt to best practices with web content management processes and timelines aligned upon and prioritized across the University.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.


Reporting & Analysis– 20%:
  • Create measurement, documenting analytics requirements and KPIs.
  • Measure the success of projects, site traffic, and customer journeys to optimize student services pages better.
  • Report progress toward goals in alignment with OSC’s integrated communications plan.

Other duties assigned.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and
  • 5-7 years of relevant web content management within a large, multi-faceted organization.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship management skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to provide insights and recommendations to partners and stakeholders on the best client-centric approach to meet business goals.
  • Knowledge of web content management systems, specifically component-based systems.
  • Understanding of web marketing concepts, including search engine marketing, search engine optimization, knowledge of industry online best practices, and web standards.
  • Proven ability to recognize and edit effective web content to create compelling online experiences.
  • Thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to effectively manage and execute numerous projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative, negotiate effectively, and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator, able to communicate with a variety of audiences and management levels and translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Ability to work both independently and as leader of a small team.
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing web content for a university.
