Web Application Developer (IT)
Job Description
This position is eligible for the following flexible work options with appropriate approval:
- Alternative work schedules: can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
- Hybrid work: an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location.
- Full remote work: an arrangement where the employee spends every workday at a site other than a regularly assigned ASU work location.

The Admission Services Information Systems Development team is looking for a talented and well-rounded web developer with experience in each of the phases of software development, including requirements, design, coding and implementation, and test and maintenance. The focus of this position centers around the careful, deliberate, imaginative and serious undertaking of defined work. The job requires an ability to deal in a systematic and patient way with factual and technical information and processes, as well as an ability to focus directly on the knowledge base required for the task. Getting it "done right," with minimal mistakes are key to the position.

Salary Range
$72,000 - $82,000 per year
Essential Duties
- Design, code, implement, and enhance web applications.
- Participates in a collaborative team environment to ensure the success of projects.
- Maintains a high degree of technical knowledge and expertise.
- Coordinates with other information technology organizations.
- Develops and improves systems documentation.
- Reviews existing systems and processes, and recommends alternative solutions when appropriate.
- Establishes and maintains effective communications with customers, other technology specialists, and vendors about services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field AND 3 years web and database experience which includes creating and updating table structures and views as well as CSS development; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Web application development with the following stack:
- Experience with Java and/or Node.js (3 years)
- Responsive CSS frameworks (e.g. Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS, Foundation)
- Relational Databases (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
- Modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Vue.js, React, Angular)
Demonstrated experience or understanding with the following:
- AWS technologies. Ideally Lambda, API Gateway, and S3 CI/CD with Jenkins Best practices in web application security, OWASP Top 10 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Evidence of effective communication skills.
Working Environment
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of a desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
