Job Description
The ASU Library is seeking a skilled professional to join the Web Services team as Web Administrator. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively to design, develop, enhance and maintain the library’s web content on various platforms, while incorporating established best practices and standards set by the library and university. This role works closely with colleagues in both Communications and Web Services and Technology Services, and has ample opportunity to collaborate with professionals throughout the library and university system.The Web Administrator position reports directly to ASU Library's Associate University Librarian for Communication and Web Services.

Essential Duties
- Provides expertise in improving and increasing ASU Library web offerings across a variety of platforms including SpringShare, Drupal, Sharepoint and Omeka.
- Creates and maintains dynamic web pages designed to enhance, sustain and support the vision of ASU Library in compliance with established university and library styles and standards.
- Ensures new and redesigned web pages/sites and applications comply with the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. Evaluate existing websites and applications for accessibility and remediate issues as resources permit.
- Provides technical suggestions and recommendations to content creators for continued enhancements to web content.
- Works closely with users to understand UX requirements and creates user-centered applications based on UX research.
- Works to seamlessly integrate user-developed content across platforms.
- Identifies and troubleshoots errors or problems with web-based applications.
- Provides independent decision making and trend analysis in areas of responsibility.
- Investigates new technology solutions for information delivery.
- Participates as a team member in a wide variety of projects to develop and improve the ASU Library web presence through use of innovative web-based solutions.
- Prepares associated documentation and provides end-user training.
- Maintains current awareness in web and digital content technologies.
- Ensures consistency, accuracy and compliance with all ASU web standards.
- Works collaboratively across various departments within the library and university as well as with diverse populations and groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Information Technology or closely related field AND five (5) years web, graphic design and database experience including creating and updating table structures and views as well as CSS development, OR, any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience creating and maintaining content in web content management systems such as Drupal, Springshare, Sharepoint, WordPress, Omeka or similar.
- Experience with HTML5, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, React and/or Preact.
- Experience with Drupal theme and module development, especially Drupal 8 or 9.
- Experience with Google Analytics or similar tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for maintaining accessible web sites.
- Knowledge of how to avoid common security vulnerabilities.
- Experience with source code version control systems such as Git.
- Demonstrated successful experience solving problems.
- Evidence of effective communication with stakeholders and end-users.
- Experience in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with library services and resources.
Working Environment
This position is based in a library environment.
Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities and respond to tight deadlines which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Regularly uses a computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse and webcam) and/or laptop.
