Job Summary:

The Communicable Disease Division (CDD) of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) is seeking an Outreach Specialist to support and optimize outreach activities for the Wisconsin Clinical Laboratory Network (WCLN). The successful candidate will collaborate with the WCLN Outreach Coordinator to deliver educational and conference content to the WCLN, enhance modes of communication to the WCLN on behalf of the CDD, create and deliver messages to laboratory and public health partners, among other duties. This position is on-site at 2601 Agriculture Dr, Madison, WI 53718. Work hours are 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Occasional after hours, weekend or holiday work may be required in support of urgent or emergent public health needs of the organization. Remote work may be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager.
About the Communicable Disease Division - Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene
The WSLH and CDD serve as the State of Wisconsin's laboratory for infectious disease testing, supporting the Wisconsin Division of Health Services through surveillance and outbreak response for any pathogen of public health significance. The CDD is a national and regional reference laboratory for many Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) programs, including but not limited to the detection of and surveillance for influenza, vaccine-preventable diseases, enteric disease pathogens, parasitic diseases and antimicrobial resistance.


Responsibilities:
Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 25% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 25% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 10% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 25% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 15% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree in outreach program, public health, bacteriology, microbiology, medical laboratory science, or related allied health sciences


Qualifications:

Preferred
-Conference or event program management experience
-Strong customer service skills
-Two years or more relevant experience in a clinical or public health lab
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Experience with a variety of platforms, including but not limited to: virtual meeting/learning apps like Teams, Zoom, etc.; podcasting; polling/survey technology; customer and event database management; social media.


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Remote work may be considered based on performance at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Salary:

Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum annual salary for this position is $65,000/year. Salary to be determined upon hire based on qualifications.
