Water Systems Group Mechanical Technician

The Collider-Accelerator Department (C-AD) has an opening for a Water Systems Group (WSG) Mechanical Technician within the Experimental Support & Facilities Division (ES&F).  The Mechanical Technician within the Water Systems Group is responsible for the operations, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, controls programming and construction of cooling water/compressed air systems in support of C-AD experiments throughout the laboratory.  Systems include, but are not limited to, water/air cooled chillers, cooling towers, open/closed loop piping systems, heat exchangers, pumping systems, de-ionized water systems, electronics/magnet cooling water systems, electrical and electronic controls including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation air/pneumatic controls systems. This position has a high level of interaction with an international and multicultural scientific community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate, repair, maintain, assemble, and install the air and water systems and associated sub systems for the C-AD Water Systems Group

• Installation and repair of water system components including pumps, flow meters, inline strainers, etc.

• Perform work on water systems that are composed of numerous materials including, but not limited to, copper, PVC, and stainless steel

• All hours, emergency call-ins for all utilities system repairs, trips, or system related situations

• Work safely and follow all applicable procedures and policies
