Job Description
General Description:
This position ensures that services and logistical functions related to College mailings, the receiving of goods and asset tagging are efficiently and consistently executed upon, and in service to Northern Virginia Community College and its faculty, staff, and students .This position is integral in the sustained operation of shipping, receiving, and distribution of goods to the College to maintain essential operations. This position provides campus storeroom coverage and performs other Warehouse duties as needed.
Duties and Tasks:
  • Daily postal services operation (USPS & Inter campus)
  • Supervision and training of employees in the various phases of the services provided and to cross-train the employees in all aspects of the receiving operations.
  • Processing and distribution services
  • Mail delivery fleet operations
  • Furnishing logistical and support services
  • Overseeing and maintaining the College Administration Records Archives
  • Overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the Mail Meter Machines, receiving and inbound tracking systems & Send Suite Systems
  • To direct the receiving and timely tagging of asset items, eVA receiving reports and the submitter of receiving documentation, as required
  • Serves as a liaison with the Accounts Payable Office to acquire payment information for supporting all fixed asset receiving transactions
  • Prepare reconciliations reports and perform analysis for research to proactively identify potential fixed assets received but not reported to the Property Control Office
  • Ensures that all warehouse operations are performed in a safe, secure and sanitary manner
  • Furnishing logistical and support services and acting as a backup approver for the Campus Storekeeper for College Staff e-forms and College Staff inventory.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSAs:
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to read, write and verbally communicate, are required for interacting with all levels of the college administration, facility staff, vendors, and carrier representatives.
  • Ability to make decisions and act quickly to coordinate schedules, manage customer relations, and allocate resources to meet dynamic customer and logistical needs.
  • Working knowledge of USPS rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations preferred.
  • Interpersonal communication skills and analytical ability are important.
  • Computer Skills – Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in postal and/or inventory operations.
  • Experience operating and managing a warehouse or distribution center.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience supervising personnel
  • Valid and clean driver’s license.

  • OSHA powered Material Handling equipment license -
  • Instructor certification for OSHA powered industrial truck licensing -
  • Experience in logistics, warehouse or inventory environment with frequent customer and carrier interactions
  • Previous experience in higher education mail-room or warehouse environment.
