Position Summary:
 
The Office of the Campus Writing & Communication Coordinator (CWCC) coordinates and links writing efforts across the campus. The office serves faculty who teach W courses, helping them to improve instruction, and offers consultation to faculty, instructors, and TAs who are working on writing curricula or pedagogy in any capacity. The CWCC conducts workshops, invites speakers, collects and distributes resources on writing in the disciplines and writing courses at UCI, and conducts writing program assessment and research.
 
Under the general direction of the Campus Writing & Communication Coordinator, the Writing across the Curriculum + Writing in the Disciplines Coordinator (WAC+WID Coordinator) uses skills as a seasoned, experienced training and development professional to resolve a wide range of writing pedagogy issues and needs assessments. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for developing, communicating, and delivering writing pedagogy training and curricular development efforts. The WAC+WID Coordinator will be expected to monitor current research and trends in academic writing, writing across the curriculum, and writing in the disciplines, and collaborate with UCI colleagues on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) efforts. Primary, duties for the WAC+WID Coordinator include supporting academic programs and faculty and graduate instructors with writing pedagogy development and practices; reviewing and assisting with design, assessment, and implementation of effective writing curricula; and developing, coordinating, and collaborating with others on the implementation of programming, such as workshops, panels and discussions on current topics, learning communities, consultation services, and online resources, to foster effective writing instruction across the UCI campus.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $66,700.00 - $118,500.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
 
  • 3+ years of teaching writing
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. 
  • Master’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Thorough knowledge of writing pedagogy development and understands how work may impact other areas. 
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong presentation skills. 
  • Thorough knowledge of delivering writing pedagogy training programs. 
  • Strong skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs. 
  • Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. 
  • Strong skills in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective delivery of training. 
  • Thorough knowledge of training and development, performance management and workplace learning. 
  • Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes. 
  • Thorough knowledge of writing across the curriculum/writing in the disciplines theory and best practices for writing pedagogy. 
  • Multicultural competence.

Preferred:
 
  • Doctorate in related area and/or equivalent experience/
  • Thorough knowledge of UCI’s academic policies and procedures. 
  • Thorough knowledge of current training programs and trends. 
  • Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies.
