JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Ambulatory Clinic Operations provides leadership and management oversight for the overall operations of specialty and primary care clinics, ensuring their efficient and high-quality operation while fostering a positive organizational culture. This position is operations-focused and entails a wide array of clinic and service management responsibilities, including expense management, staffing, workflow optimization, and enhancing the patient experience and is continually working to standardize and improve patient safety, access, quality and timeliness of care.

In close collaboration with clinical department leadership, the VP also strives to understand the department needs and unique situations and respond accordingly. The VP manages the bi-directional communication flow between organizational and local leaders to ensure that each practice and clinician is well-supported, concerns and issues are addressed and pertinent information is disseminated regarding organizational initiatives and priorities, policies, and procedures.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for the development and achievement of the strategic outcomes and ultimate financial bottom line for practices while promoting a culture of accountability within the ambulatory structure and in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Provides oversight and direction for all associated management functions for the ambulatory practices, which include the multitude of clinical and business performance metrics, providing senior leadership in clinical performances and patient satisfaction improvement processes.
  • Works with planning and facilities to develop and maintain the master plan for ambulatory care facilities. Operationalizes all newly built and renovated space and assimilates new practices into the standard practice model.
  • Participates in the development of the ambulatory clinical strategic priorities based on evaluation of external dynamics and internal strengths and weaknesses and aligns teams to successfully execute against the agreed to priorities.
  • Collaborates on clinic improvement efforts to include analysis processes including clinic efficiency, clinician time allocation, patient experience, space utilization, access to care and local culture.
  • Responsible for establishing systems that lead to continuous safety improvement and continuous readiness as it is associated with Joint Commission Ambulatory Accreditation.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field required; master's degree preferred.
  • Ten years of progressive healthcare leadership experience that includes direct experience in operations and a knowledge of clinical quality improvement methodology and project management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Leadership and Strategic Vision in healthcare operations, with a proven track record of developing and achieving strategic outcomes for ambulatory practices. Ability to promote a culture of accountability and align operations with organizational mission and vision.
  • Operational Oversight for all management functions within ambulatory practices, including clinical and business performance metrics. Strong leadership in clinical performance and patient satisfaction improvement processes.
  • Collaboration and Strategy to define priorities, evaluate external dynamics and internal strengths and weaknesses to align teams in executing priorities effectively.
  • Process Improvement related to clinic efficiency, patient experience, space utilization, and access to care.
  • Safety and Accreditation Proficiency and understanding of Joint Commission Accreditation process.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with clinical department leadership and other stakeholders to understand needs, address concerns, and disseminate information effectively.
