Job Description

ASU’s Enterprise Technology team is looking for a Visual Strategic Communicator to join our growing Creative and Communications team. Our team blends creativity and strategy to produce engaging and informative content that tells the story of Enterprise Technology’s  work and community. We strive to make technology-focused developments accessible for the ASU community through the seamless adoption of new products and services. We measure our success through deepened awareness and community engagement. 

This position seeks a talented, full-time position who has visual communication experience. This position will work on enterprise-level creative work.

The candidate we seek is a professional communicator, as well as a flexible, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced and constantly changing deadline-driven environment.

Essential Duties

  • Creates designs for various project needs including but limited to social campaigns, infographics, presentations, advertisements, web pages.
  • Innovates and gives a fresh take on visual communications.
  • Plans design work with the project manager/ project lead.
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
  • Prepares finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment; and purchasing from vendors.
  • Takes responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs. Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.  Advances our Enterprise Technology Affirmative Pledge .

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and two (2) years of related experience: OR, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.  Demonstrated experience in writing and editing online content.

Creative

  • Portfolio with evidence of work showing the ability to produce content across different mediums.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing, advertising and social content spaces with a strong grasp of what’s trending and how this fits within the ASU brand.
  • Experience in presentation skills and visual storytelling.
  • A sharp eye for detail and highly developed organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with a quick turnaround.
  • Visual design, layout, and typography skill set.
  • Ability to learn and align all work product with the ASU Brand

 Technical

  • Software experiences including programs such as Adobe CS (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Experience working with Google products (Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides), digital asset management software, project management software, Outlook and Slack.
  • ​Experience mentoring and training other visual communicators 


Communications

  • ​Experience in conveying clear, accurate and concise information regarding complex projects.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers to ensure the successful implementation of a design.

 General

  • Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours to support projects when necessary, including occasional travel for events.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, creative environment handling multiple projects at once.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.  Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.  Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.  Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
