Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Responsible for assisting the college’s communications efforts through creative design, website management, video production and production of print, multimedia and other marketing and communications channels. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Visual Communications Coordinator serves as a key member of the communications team and will implement initiatives in support of the college’s overall communications goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with graphic design and event promotion.
  • Experience with web content management systems.
  • Experience utilizing social media platforms.
  • Superior time management ability.
  • Must be able to work independently, while also knowing when to see guidance from the Communications Manager or other resources.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills and ability to partner across teams, functions, and disciplines.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to effectively describe and present design ideas and recommendations to various contacts.
  • self-started and adaptive.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, evolving, dynamic environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Detail oriented with outstanding written and communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with print and electronic communications; knowledge of video editing and production. Familiarity with USC’s Content Management System is a plus.

Ensures timely processing of photo, video and graphic assets. Archives these materials for use in future projects. Sorts assets created by previous communications team to incorporate into current projects.

Design, organize, and coordinate e-communications including, but not limited to, social media graphics and videos, announcements, invitations, and holiday greetings. Work with communications team to conceptualize and create videos that demonstrate that CIC is meeting and exceeding the goals outlined by the college’s strategic plan.

Design college materials for publication. Coordinate with CIC Communications team, University Creative Services and Printing Services on print materials, photography needs, etc. for college print materials including external ad placement.

Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the college. This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Provide support for college-wide events when needed, and some after-hours work required.
  • Assist in the production of the CIC’s alumni magazine.

Collects, posts, and maintains information on the CIC website. Material is attentive to the needs of both schools (SJMC and iSchool) to include program information, educational resources, development information, news releases, feature articles, etc. Supports online and web needs of other college units.
