The Visiting Scholar will assist faculty in the neurology service with patient recruitment, evaluation of prospective patients and outcome assessment of enrolled dogs for a project on canine cervical spondylomyelopathy.

Essential functions include:

  • Assist in recruiting dogs for inclusion in cervical spondylomyelopathy physical rehabilitation project
  • Assist in evaluating project dogs upon enrollment and specific reevaluation dates using a high-resolution pressure-sensitive walkway and handheld dynamometer
  • Assist in processing results obtained from high-resolution pressure-sensitive walkway
  • Record each patient findings
  • Assist in drafting project updates for funding source

Minimum Qualifications

Prior experience in research involving canine cervical spondylomyelopathy.

DVM degree, MS and PhD degrees

Desired Qualifications

3+ years of experience with research focused on canine cervical spondylomyelopathy at a post-graduate level.

Work Conditions

Working with large breed dogs; may have exposure to animal dander and zoonic diseases.


Additional Information:

This is a part-time, up to 2-year term position.

Target Salary: $15.00 - $17.31 per hour.
