This is a temporary, full-time, Visiting Scholar position to work in the Soil Fertility Lab at Ohio State University, Wooster campus. The Visiting Scholar will learn and apply field management practices in field-based perennial crop systems and will be trained to perform analysis of soil and plant materials in the laboratory. Primary responsibilities will be field based, but lab work will also be required. Field work includes soil, plant and grain sampling at specified times and samples processing. Laboratory work includes grinding, weighing and performing analyses on soil and plant materials. Other duties include managing laboratory and field data spreadsheets, and assisting with inventory and archiving of samples.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have an interest in soil fertility and cropping systems and in providing research support in a team-environment. The successful candidate must have excellent organization skills and be able to effectively communicate with team members on a daily basis. Prior experience conducting field-based sampling and/or laboratory work is desirable. This work will sometimes require working long days in the field, often in hot weather and/or inclement conditions.
