Position Description:


The Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard Divinity School invites applications for a new term appointment of a Visiting Scholar in Jewish Studies, Mysticism and Philosophy of Religion. This is a full time, benefits-eligible position. The non-renewable appointment will begin on September 1, 2024 and end on May 31, 2025.
The candidate is expected to be in residence at the CSWR for both semesters, and will work with the Director of the Center , Professor Charles Stang on research and programming at the intersection of Jewish studies and philosophy, with a focus on apophasis in Kabbalistic traditions, as well as philosophical gnosis.
In addition to engaging in independent research and manuscript writing work, the Visiting Scholar will be invited to give a public lecture, participate in relevant panel discussions with HDS scholars in Jewish Studies, provide mentorship to a junior researcher at CSWR and produce 2 op-eds/essays to bring the issues related to kabbalistic mysticism to the attention of the CSWR's broader community.
This position will be based in Cambridge, MA.

Basic Qualifications:


(1) Completed advanced degree in a relevant field (completed PhD or ThD)
(2) A research project that fits within the CSWR's Transcendence and Transformation Initiative
(3) Evidence of publications relevant to that research project

Additional Qualifications:


Extensive writing experience and publication record in relevant research areas.
