Position Summary:


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Visiting Researcher in Radiation Oncology/Cancer Biology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Visiting Researcher position is to work under the direction of the principal investigator. Under direction, this position performs and assists with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities of the laboratory. The primary job is to conduct research investigation into the regulation and function of important signaling involved in cancer, in particular, tumor suppressor p53 and a multifunctional cytokine LIF.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs cellular and mouse experiments that are proposed in the grant, with a specific focus on the function of the p53 pathway in tumorigenesis and the regulation of the p53 pathway under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Responsible for maintaining research databases on the computer.
  • Publishes scientific research papers/articles.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors' Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals

  • Interaction with RUTGERS, RWJMS, CINJ, and RWJUH management, administrative, clinical and laboratory staff.
