Job Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
• Perform laboratory techniques include aseptic culture of mammalian and bacterial cells, including transfections, lentivirus generation and transformations. PCR, traditional and modern cloning techniques (Gibson, Gateway), RNA extraction and cDNA library preparations, immunofluorescent imaging, protein biochemistry are also commonly used methods for this position.
• Design and conduct experiments using patch clamp electrophysiology in primary and cultured cells.
• Perform molecular and cellular experiments for biochemical and immunohistochemical characterization of ex vivo mouse tissues and cancer cell lines.
• Oversee experimental design development and implementation, analysis and interpretation of data and information, and manuscript preparation in collaboration with senior research faculty and research staff.
• Work with postdoctoral fellows, mentor doctoral and medical student trainees and undergraduate students; participate in the oversight of laboratory activities.
• In collaboration with the PI, write grant applications for extramural funding; prepare and submit research reports describing findings.
• Author publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations of papers to professional societies.
• Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
