The Visiting Research Project Manager is primarily responsible for the oversight and execution of goals, tasks, and milestones for all components of the Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) study at UIC. This position will oversee timelines and deliverables for the Administrative Hub, Clinical Coordinating Hub, Community Engagement – Community Healthworker Hub, the Participant Communication Hub, and the Integration, Informatics, Data Management, and Analysis Hub. In addition, this position oversees subcontracting and deliverables for 10-14 subcontracted clinical sites, work with the Steering Committee, and communicates with the NIH and prime organization to maintain communications, ensure appropriate and timely reporting as well as adjust protocols and procedures as required. This requires intricate planning to ensure the appropriate sequencing and timing of tasks, complex coordination of diverse teams, resource management, and effective problem solving to ensure timely completion of projects. The position also requires the ability to deftly assess a situation and develop plans or solutions to address the need. This may include development of materials to guide challenging conversations, workflow mapping for process improvement, analysis of technical system requirements, application of research knowledge for study design, coaching team members, re-delegation of tasks and the general ability to change directions quickly and effectively.

• Manage project as well as contribute to study activities for all hubs for the PASC Study.

o Assess protocols to develop research project plans to manage project activities.

o Secure needed resources.

o As an important part of the research team, contribute to completion of goals and tasks as outlined in the project plan by actively assuming responsibility for components of the research necessary for its timely completion.

o Track progress against milestones and project plans.

o Update and revise plans as required to meet the goals of the project. o Facilitate meetings with appropriate parties.

o Lead efforts to monitor and report progress and outcomes for the project to principal investigator and other study team members.

o Resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner.

• Lead study team efforts for communication of information and opportunities for discussion and problem-solving by coordinating regular study team meeting and other meetings as needed.

• Engage stakeholders, including research collaborators, other study team members, consortium members and participants to collect and communicate research requirements, and set expectations for researchrelated work for team.

• Facilitate partnerships across various research resources, including investigators, sponsors, study teams, designers, vendors, and external collaborators.

• Utilize research expertise and problem-solving skills to contribute to the conduct of the study and completion of research goals.

• Lead the research project life cycle from activation through close-out, leading team efforts to complete all activities and comply with regulations to ensure that project goals are met.

• Review, approve and manage changes in project scope, schedule, and cost and ensure the operationalization of changes.

• Provide ongoing assistance to the principal investigator and other team members in prioritizing study related tasks. Delegate and prioritize and assist others with prioritizing study tasks.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master's degree in a related field (e.g., MPH, MBA) preferred.

A minimum of five years of professional level research experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Previous management-level experience in directing complex clinical research project is desirable.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting.

Skilled in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of research operations and subsequently execute improvements.

Problem-solving ability, including the ability to analyze complex situations, identify resources, and imagine alternatives.

Time management skills with the capability to prioritize among multiple requests from multiple individuals and the ability to change direction in response to a fluctuating work environment.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

High personal work standards and sense of urgency about results.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and build relationships across multiple stakeholder groups and various levels of the organization. Ability to adapt to changing conditions and effectively lead a team through change.
