Job Description:

This position will support the on-going efforts related to the Innovation, Product Design, and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Program in the Swanson School of Engineering.  Areas of effort include: (1) SSOE Makerspaces- Keep regular hours in the various SSOE Makerspaces,  advise and support users, conduct training sessions, assist with equipment maintenance, develop educational resources related to prototyping, and oversee advanced equipment operation. (2) Pitt XProjects – assist with management of the XProjects program, mentor student teams, and assist with outreach to local industry and internal Pitt researchers. (3) General Innovation, Product Design, and Entrepreneurship Program directives – Assist in the development of various I&E program initiatives, support and document those initiatives, and participate in related outreach activities.


Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; multiple years of experience in a makerspace or machine shop setting including proficiency in a variety of prototyping tools such as 3D printing, 3D routing, laser cutting, as well as lower resolution prototyping; and knowledge and experience in engineering design, project management, and computer-aided design.  Good verbal and written communication skills are important, and experience in makerspace training or other educational settings is beneficial.
