The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for a 0.5 FTE position in the School Psychology (SP) Program at the rank of Visiting Professor of Practice and Educational Services Clinic Director to begin summer 2023. This 12-month faculty position may be renewable initially on an annual basis, followed by multi-year appointments, based on performance, program needs, and budgetary resources.

Our students learn to provide supports in schools, homes, and communities for individuals aged birth-21. Position Summary

The faculty in this position teach and support students across our MA, EdS, and PhD programs, which provide comprehensive preparation in the area of school psychology. The EdS and the PhD Program are accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The PhD program is additionally accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

We expect candidates to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of developmental, psychological, and learning theories, general and special education, and legal, ethical, and professional standards of practice. Professional competency in research and measurement, assessment, prevention, intervention, and consultation with family, school and community professionals is also anticipated.  The position of Clinic Director will include a reduced teaching load in recognition of the time required for this service.

Essential Functions

Administration: Oversee SP Educational Services as Clinic Director

  • Provide live supervision to second year EdS and PhD School Psychology students providing assessment services as well as Graduate Level Clinic Assistants.
  • Meeting with individual or pairs of students to debrief and conduct case conceptualization.
  • Managing materials in the test library.
  • Market the Clinic to clients and the professional community (e.g., developing and maintaining school and community agency partnerships).
  • Coordinate the Clinic use and management with other college personnel (e.g., CP Counseling Services Clinic Director, SP Director of Clinical Training, Graduate Teaching Assistants). 
  • Manage the Clinic budget with the Department Chair.

Teaching: Supervise the SP School Psychology clinic sequence during fall, winter, and spring quarters

  • Teach courses as assigned, including SP practica rotations of students in the clinic setting 

Service: Provide Program and Department Service

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in School Psychology or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
  • Professional Psychologist licensure in Colorado by the start of the appointment. 
  • Experience (e.g., practica, internship, employment) working in or with clinical settings and P-12 schools with exceptional populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with a variety of assessment measures (cognitive, academic, social-emotional, executive functioning, early childhood, autism, gifted/talented, language processing, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 0-21 student population, typically and atypically developing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusions, justice, and access (DEIJA) in education.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience managing an educational clinic.
  • Established record of supervising in a clinical setting.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general and special education.
  • Has or is eligible for NCSP license.

Work Schedule

While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar ).

Possibility for remote work with approximately 6 on campus testing days per quarter.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. The salary range for this 12-month 0.5 FTE position is $31,000 - $35,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
