] Visiting Professor/Lecturer China

The China and Asia Pacific Studies program at Cornell University invites applications for one or more part-time visiting positions. Specific teaching needs include Chinese language courses, a seminar in U.S.-China relations and a possible independent study course in addition to performing other duties concomitant to the position. This position may be a visiting assistant professor, visiting associate professor, visiting professor, visiting senior lecturer, or visiting lecturer. Title will be commensurate with experience. This appointment is for the fall 2017 semester with a possibility for renewal each fall, but renewal is contingent upon availability, satisfactory performance, and funding.

For Chinese language instruction, a Masters is required; Ph.D. is preferred (or foreign equivalent) in the target language or linguistics, Foreign Language Education, or a related field. The successful candidate will have professional teaching experience in higher education, and native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English. To teach the seminar in U.S.-China Relations, the successful candidate must have a Ph.D., extensive knowledge of U.S.-China relations, and also have an extensive knowledge of U.S. government institutions, agencies, and non-governmental organizations in the greater Washington D.C. area. The positions are located at Cornell in Washington in Washington, D.C. during the fall semester.
