Job Summary
The Digital Media Design (DMD) B.A. program in the Daveler & Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship, Florida Gulf Coast University is seeking an exceptional faculty scolleague in Digital Media Design for a nine (9) month visiting faculty position in the Daveler & Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship at the classification and the rank of Instructor I. This is a non-tenure earning, visiting appointment beginning August 2024.
The School of Entrepreneurship invites applicants who can contribute unique perspectives to the Digital Media Design Program and provide excellent teaching that fosters and promotes Digital Media Design skills and experiences relevant to the current and future needs of the creative industries. As Instructor of Digital Media Design you will teach four courses per semester at the undergraduate level; be involved in course and/or curriculum development.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Teaches 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Digital Media Design and related subjects as assigned.
- Prepares syllabi and instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluates students.
- Engages in reflective self-assessment of teaching styles and methods to ensure consistently effective instructional performance.
- Keeps abreast of new information and developments in field of instruction.
- Actively serves on university committees.
- Actively participates in institutional meetings.
- Assists with the development of curriculum.
- Continued professional development activity is expected at a level commensurate with rank and the mission of the University. Community, institutional and professional service in furtherance of FGCU’s mission is expected of all faculty.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Associate Director.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MA/MS) in the Design disciplines from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.
- Minimum of one year teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Demonstrated evidence of ability to teach formal design principles, design processes and creative problem solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- MFA or PhD in the Design disciplines from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
- Three years of years teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Evidence of ability to work with professional design studios or non-profit organizations and build relationships for internships, funding and student careers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of creative practice, pedagogy, exhibited and/or published work (academic or client-based) and relevant teaching experience in Digital Media Design in one or more subjects such as interactive design, web design, motion graphics, video production/editing/vfx, UI/UX design, animation, design theory, physical computing or graphic design. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in and capacity for delivering entry- to upper-level undergraduate design courses.
- Knowledge and commitment to the use of instructional technology, a willingness to cultivate interdisciplinary perspectives; and a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
- Knowledge or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued service to the school and university.
