Summary of Job Duties:

This one-year non tenure-track position includes teaching in developmental, first-year, and intermediate composition, contributing to curricula and assessment in developmental writing, and to departmental, college, and university service. This position may include teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats. Employees are expected to work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric, Technical Communication, Education, or a closely related area

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Organizational, written and oral communication skills;
  • Professional writing experience;
  • Online or hybrid experience;
  • Prior composition teaching experience with an emphasis on first-year students.

Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Teaching in-person and some hybrid or online teaching.;
  • Work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community;
  • Participate in department, university, and community service, including service on the department’s; Composition Committee helping with assessment and professional development.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Teaching experience in a college setting; 
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses within our curriculum in a traditional and online format;
  • Desire to engage in professional service activities in the community.
