Visiting Humanities Researcher/Fellow

The Schusterman Center for Israel Studies (SCIS) at Brandeis University seeks to host a visiting research scholar to work full-time on their own research and to be fully involved in campus life during the 2024-25 academic year. The jobholder will also help us convene our Fellowship in Advanced Israel Studies that year and will participate in the design of the annual conference related to their work, in April 2025.

This is a term-limited position for 9 months

Job Description:

1) Conduct scholarly research related to the intersection of computer science and literature within the context of Israel Studies. 60%

2) Assist with the convening of our Advanced Institute in Israel Studies and related spring conference. 25%

3) Create interdepartmental initiatives that bring together computer science, languages, Jewish studies, digital humanities, the library, etc. 10%

4) Take part in the academic life of SCIS and Brandeis. This might include interacting with undergraduate and graduate students and faculty, being invited to give guest classes, attending university events etc. graduate students and faculty, being invited to give guest classes, attending university events etc. 5%

Job Requirements:

  • PhD required.

  • 3-5 years of related experience required.

  • Must be a scholar of digital humanities and be fluent in written and oral Hebrew.

  • The position is primarily research based though management of some aspects of the Advanced Institute for Israel Studies and related spring conference will be required.
