Occupational Summary

A Visiting Grad Student position is currently available within Dr. Ehsan Abadi’s laboratory within the Radiology Department at the Duke University School of Medicine.  This classification permits compensation to individuals who are enrolled as graduate students at institutions other than Duke University, but who, as part of their educational program, serve a fellowship/internship or otherwise participate in activities in a student capacity at Duke.

The Visiting Grad Student will perform a variety of duties involved in conducting virtual imaging trials through medical imaging simulation techniques.  Such techniques include computational models of human anatomy, algorithms that model imaging devices, and image reconstruction and analysis.

Work Performed

Duties may include, but are not be limited to:

  • Carry out experiments and research according to protocols outlined by researchers 
  • Collect and log experimental data; conduct statistical analyses of data sets as required
  • Prepare graphs, spreadsheets, presentations, and posters related to research results 
  • Review print and online resources to gather information 
  • Check facts, proofread, and edit research documents to ensure accuracy
