Position Summary
The School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for two positions – Visiting Assistant Professors of Voice. We seek artist/teachers with experience working with students from diverse musical, social, and cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidates are highly accomplished and versatile musician-teachers dedicated to access and excellence for all students. They will be a skilled and successful teachers of undergraduate and graduate students and will fulfill duties and responsibilities commensurate with academic positions at a leading institution. Candidates will teach studio voice lessons in a variety of styles and genres, which might include art song, opera, popular music, commercial/contemporary music, musical theatre, gospel, and/or jazz. As members of the School of Music faculty, the Visiting Assistant Professors of Voice will contribute to ongoing equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives in the School.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master of Music degree
• Significant performance experience in a variety of genres and musical styles
• Experience teaching voice at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a team member at UNCG.
Preferred Qualifications
DMA or equivalent professional experience
• Emerging national reputation
• Ability to teach other coursework (such as diction or voice pedagogy) depending on candidate’s expertise and needs of the department
• Expertise and experience in entrepreneurship and career development
