Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and the Neuroscience Program at Colgate University invites applications for one or two positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall semester of 2024, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year dependent on the evaluation of teaching effectiveness and institutional need. Both positions are open to a variety of areas, though emphasis on cognitive, social, personality, developmental, clinical psychology, or neuroscience are encouraged. Successful candidates will be expected to teach staff-taught courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychology or Neuroscience, or Biological Psychology, Research Methods, or Quantitative Methods), upper-level courses in the candidate’s specialty area, and supervision of senior thesis work (which normally counts as one course). Successful candidates may also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.

Completion of a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field is required prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire. The teaching load for this position is equivalent to five courses per year. Please note that Colgate will not sponsor any visa or work authorization for this position.

Salary Range or Pay Grade

$68,900 (for ABD candidates) to $72,900 (for candidates with a Ph.D. in hand)

The Department of Campus Safety at Colgate University will provide upon request a copy of Colgate’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1.
