The finance division at Babson College seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance for the 2023-2024 academic year. This full-time visiting position may potentially be renewed as a continuing position.

JOBQUALIFICATIONS: We seek either an experienced finance professional or, alternatively, an individual holding a doctorate in finance or a related field. Candidates must hold a Master’s (i.e., MBA, MA, or MS) or higher degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Candidates must also have demonstrated excellent teaching in a learning environment (e.g., university-level teaching, leading training sessions, or equivalent roles involving public speaking).


A candidate qualifying as a finance practitioner must have held a full-time, high-level finance-industry position within the last five years and have a substantial ongoing connection to practice, as evidenced through consulting, executive education teaching, or continued professional development. A practitioner-oriented candidate’s qualifications should demonstrate a capacity for practitioner-oriented thought leadership and intellectual activity that may comprise either scholarly activity or engagement in the finance profession that produces contributions to the field.

An academically qualifying candidate should have a portfolio of past intellectual contributions and developmental activities that demonstrate currency in finance and the potential for continued contributions in scholarly and professional activities.

The successful candidate will be able and willing to teach and develop a wide range of finance courses. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience and demonstrated expertise in areas among the following: corporate financial management; financial markets, instruments, institutions and practices; corporate governance; alternative investments; quantitative financial analysis; and behavioral finance.
