The Biology Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a one-year visiting position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2024. We seek candidates with expertise in cellular and molecular biology to contribute to our core offerings in this area, in consultation with the department. The courses may also contribute to interdisciplinary programs in Neuroscience, or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB). We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations. The Biology Department faculty comprises a community of active teacher-scholars dedicated to equipping students with the skills for lifelong learning in the biological sciences and advancing our understanding of the natural world through original research. Situated in the Taylor Science Center, our department benefits from a space designed to promote collaborative learning among faculty and students. It includes modern research facilities such as the Microscopy and Imaging Facility (MIF), vivarium, aviary, and greenhouse. Within the Taylor Science Center complex, there are over 100 teaching and student research laboratories, fostering a dynamic environment for hands-on learning and exploration. Candidates with ABD will be considered, although candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. The teaching load for this position is five courses, each with three contact hours (lecture or lab). This includes an intermediate course that examines genetics and biochemistry within the context of the cell, upper-level offerings in the area of the candidate's specialization, and may also include an introductory course in biology.  The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $74,400 to $76,900.
