Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology

Updated: 28 days ago
Location: Schriever, LOUISIANA
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 28 May 2024

The Colorado College Department of Anthropology invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in sociocultural anthropology to begin in the fall of 2024. We prefer a candidate with expertise in environmental anthropology and/or medical anthropology but are open to candidates with expertise in secondary areas of interest, including critical race studies and community-based learning. We are committed to hiring someone in this position who will support our department's and college's commitment to antiracism. This one-year hire would be expected to teach both introductory and upper-level courses in sociocultural anthropology that contribute to our course offerings for the major and minor as well as to the college's General Education requirements.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in anthropology by the time of appointment and provide evidence of excellence in teaching. We seek a broadly educated anthropologist who shares our commitment to the goals of a four-field undergraduate anthropology program. Teaching interests should take advantage of opportunities afforded by our college's Block Plan schedule, which is uniquely suited to focused and intensive learning experiences. The Block Plan is a unique academic system in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time for 3. 5 weeks. Colorado College faculty teach six blocks in our eight-block academic year.
