Job Summary
The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term Visiting Assistant Professor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
This visiting position is anticipated to begin Fall 2024 through Spring 2027.
The incumbent in this position will conduct research in any humanities field with an emphasis on Marine Studies.

What You Will Need
  • Terminal degree in a humanities discipline with an emphasis on marine-related research.
  • Academic training relating to Marine Studies, broadly conceived.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Strong record of interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Teaching experience in writing on Marine-related themes, such as environmental writing, science writing, or history of science.
  • Strong record of success at grant writing.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience developing curriculum for in-person and/or online delivery.
  • Demonstrated record of or potential for scholarly distinction in the field of Marine Studies, broadly conceived.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position is site-based out of Corvallis, Oregon. Evening/weekend work and travel may be required on occasion. This position is expected to last for up to three years in Marine Humanities to address current and future student needs.

Recommended Full-Time Salary Range Salary is commensurate with skills, education and experience.
