Opportunities to direct undergraduate research projects are also possible. We welcome applicants from all disciplines within biology, but candidates who can teach introductory and non-majors courses in either molecular/cellular biology or ecology/evolution are strongly encouraged to apply.
This position is a full-time, one-year appointment. Rank will be either Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Professor, depending on experience. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology or a related field before starting the position; prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Applications should be uploaded to http://apply.interfolio.com/143123 and must include (1) a cover letter describing your interest in and summarizing your capacity for the position, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a statement describing your approach to teaching and how you pursue excellence in teaching, (4) a description of how you have fostered and will foster the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and (5) the names and e-mail addresses of three references. Please notify your three references that we will require letters of recommendation promptly should you advance to the semifinalist stage. Inquiries regarding the position may be e-mailed to Professor Sarah Gilman at [email protected]. Additional information about the department may be found at www.kecksci.claremont.edu. Review of applications will begin April 22, and the position will remain open until filled.
The salary for this position will range from $73,000-$87,000 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
Scripps and Pitzer Colleges are equal-opportunity employers. In a continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the department actively encourages applications from women and members of historically under-represented social groups in higher education.
