Job Description:

The University at Albany (SUNY) seeks to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology with teaching obligations for a large and growing undergraduate major in Human Biology. We seek a biological anthropologist able to teach lab sections for Human Anatomy and Physiology (AANT 316), as well as upper-level courses in Biological Anthropology/Human Biology. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and research interests that complement existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of three courses per semester. 

This position is scheduled to start January 2024 for the Spring semester.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Masters from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 1/15/2024. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biological Anthropology, Biology, or other related discipline
  • Experience in teaching at the undergraduate level in Biological Anthropology, Biology, or related discipline
  • Research interests that complement existing departmental strengths
