The Department of Biological Sciences within the College of Engineering and Sciences at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) invites applications for a two year full-time non/tenure-track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning August 15th. Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in genetics and molecular biology and graduate course in area of specialty. PNW’s School of Engineering within CES comprises three departments: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Closely affiliated with the School are two distinguished and award-winning research centers, the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) and the Purdue Water Institute (PWI). Department of Biological Sciences The Department of Biological Sciences is a multi-disciplinary unit serving approximately 430 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate students. The department includes 13 tenured faculty members, and 3 staff members. The department offers baccalaureate degrees in Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Health Studies as well as a master’s degree in Biology. In fall of 2020, a new state of the art, 68,000 sq. ft. Bioscience Innovations Building opened on the Hammond campus. The facility houses the Department of Biological Sciences and the College of Nursing. The new building includes flexible teaching and research laboratories, as well as contemporary student interaction spaces. Qualifications
Required Qualifications • Must have an earned terminal doctorate in Biological Sciences or Molecular Biology by the time of appointment. • Documented teaching experience and a strong commitment to excellence in the classroom are desirable.
