Job Summary/Basic Function:


Dickinson College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the German Department for the 2024–2025 academic year, beginning July 1, 2024. The teaching load is five undergraduate courses over two semesters, which will include a mix of language teaching and content courses in German. Essential qualifications include a commitment to undergraduate education, the ability to foster inclusive learning environments, and demonstrated success teaching in German at the university level. The successful candidate will be eager to contribute actively to the life of a vibrant and collegial German Studies program. Specialization is open to any area of German-language literature, film and media, and culture.
Minimum requirements: ABD (PhD preferred) in German language/literature/culture/second language acquisition/applied linguistics at the time of appointment, native or near-native fluency in German and English, significant teaching experience of German as a second/foreign language (college level) at different levels, expertise in current methodologies and in the integration of technology in the classroom. Experience working with the Auf geht's! curriculum a plus.
