Job Description

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science seeks a dynamic colleague committed to fostering teaching excellence and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and sense of belonging. The Department is currently accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, limited-term, one-year visiting faculty appointment starting from Fall 2024. The new faculty member will join a collaborative group of over 25 mathematics and statistics faculty who serve the entire campus community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience as an Assistant Professor (tenure track or visiting) or Instructor in the academy/university teaching Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Math Education
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate lower and upper-level mathematics, data science, and/or statistics courses in both modes: online and Face-to-Face.
  • Experience teaching underprivilege and varied populations.
  • Breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment and experience in teaching math courses for different majors including engineers and scientists.
  • Demonstrated commitment and preparation for excellence in teaching higher-level mathematics courses for the mathematics majors.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in performing service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with varied student populations at the college level.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
