Position Details
The Department of Economics and the College of Social Studies (CSS) invite applications for a visiting position beginning July 1, 2024 and renewable for up to two additional academic years to teach courses in the Department and in the CSS, a multidisciplinary program featuring courses in economics, government, history, and social theory. The teaching load is four courses per academic year, of which the CSS component will comprise one to four small seminar-style classes. In addition, the visitor will be expected to contribute to academic advising and senior thesis supervision within the College. Wesleyan values both scholarship and teaching very highly, has a strong, diverse undergraduate student body, and offers competitive salaries and benefits. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated effectiveness conducting small, discussion- and writing-intensive classes addressing broader social, historical, and policy themes.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Economics or related field in hand required by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Visiting Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as a Visiting Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in Economics or related field within one year of hire.
