Position Description:
The Biology Department at the University of South Dakota invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Biology. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate education and the potential to contribute to our department’s research endeavors. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in their area of expertise and contribute to the broad curriculum offered by the department. This position may be extended to two years, based on the needs of the department and continued funding availability.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in biology, including but not limited to General Biology, Genetics, Biostatistics, Plant Biology, and related laboratory sections.
  • Engage in curriculum development and assessment activities.
  • Participate in departmental activities and service.
  • Option to contribute to research in your area of expertise, with opportunities to involve undergraduate students.


Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • A record of research productivity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from different backgrounds.
