Position Summary:

This is a Visiting Assistant Professor position whose main purpose is to direct the department's BSE Social Science Program. The BSE Director advises BSE students, teaches the Methods and Materials for Social Studies Teachers and Digital Technology for Social Studies Teachers courses, and supervises teaching interns out in the secondary schools. This position is a Visiting Assistant Professor position for AY 2024-2025 with possibility of becoming permanent tenure track in AY 2025-2026


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching load varies from 9-12 hours per semester depending on number of interns
  • Advise BSE students
  • Write assessment and other program accreditation reports as needed
  • Attend programs specific meetings in the College of Education
  • Participate in departmental recruitment and other events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization, including special abilities


General Days/Hours:

Monday — Friday
8:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD or ABD in History
Two (2) years teaching experience in secondary social studies or a related field
