Description

The Institute of Fine Arts of New York University seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor in conservation with a special focus on the conservation of works on paper. This is a one-year appointment, renewable annually for a total of three years. The start date for the position is September 1, 2022.


Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in scholarship and teaching and will hold a terminal conservation degree (MA or MS) with a minimum of five years post-graduate experience in paper conservation treatment and technical research. Expertise in preventive conservation, or related fields such as photograph, book, or digital media preservation, is desirable. The appointee will teach four graduate-level courses each academic year, which must include at least one paper conservation treatment course each semester, with the remainder either other treatment courses or lecture courses to conservation and art history students. As a full-time member of the Institute of Fine Arts faculty, student advisement and active mentoring is required, as is service on Institute committees.

Rank and salary will be dependent upon experience.
