Position Overview
The Violence Prevention Coordinator will report to the Director of the Women’s Center, and will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive risk reduction and violence prevention programs and advocacy services for the entire university community, with particular emphasis on underserved student populations, including Latinx, Native American, international, and LGBTQIA+ students, and students with disabilities.
Duties may include:
  • Develop and oversee violence prevention programs for the university community, prioritizing underserved student groups
  • Coordinate domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking prevention initiatives for faculty, staff, students, and local community members
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners to create culturally responsive violence prevention services
  • Co-facilitate bystander intervention programs promoting peer accountability
  • Secure funding and supervise all violence prevention efforts within the Women’s Center
  • Work with campus law enforcement, legal aid, Student Affairs, and community organizations to enhance prevention strategies
  • Contribute to other Equity & Diversity Unit projects and programs
  • Focus on developing and implementing sociocultural relevant sexual violence prevention programming using varied teaching methods
  • Provide confidential support and referrals for individuals disclosing experiences of sexual assault and relationship violence
  • Offer individual support, particularly for underserved students affected by sexual misconduct

Position Qualifications


Required Experience
  • Three years of experience designing, implementing, and assessing education programs
  • Experience developing technical written materials such as policies, technical manuals, or rules/regulations; gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts; writing concise reports
  • Experience with staff development and supervisory practices
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies; Sociology; Psychology, Education, or related field; four additional years of experience (for a total of seven years) may substitute a Bachelor’s Degree
Required Other
  • Routinely required to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet program objectives

Additional Preferred
  • Master’s Degree in related field
  • Knowledge of law enforcement criminal justice investigation methods and functions
  • Familiarity with legislation and regulatory compliance related to sexual harassment and violence, including knowledge of Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, the federal Violence Against Women Act, Campus SaVE, the Clery Act, etc
  • Project management and assessment, including proficiency with budget management.
  • Knowledge of and creative experience with peer education models, teaching, marketing, and program design and evaluation
  • Experience working in or with partners in public health, health promotion, prevention, and health equity. Experience in developing outreach efforts through a framework of cultural humility and awareness of intersectionality of identities
  • Experience in crisis intervention, sexual assault advocacy, and advocacy for individuals who have experienced trauma and victimization
  • Previous experience advising student organizations/peer education groups.
  • Experience supervising/coordinating volunteers, interns, and/or peer educators
  • Valid driver’s license
