Summary of Position:    The university videographer is a storyteller responsible for creating compelling and creative videos that inform and inspire prospective students and parents, alums, staff, faculty, donors, and other stakeholders. Video created will document and tell the story of how God is at work in and among the people of the university and serve to highlight academic outcomes and messaging. Deliverables will be used in multiple media outlets to draw prospective students deeper into the admissions funnel, further establish the IWU brand, and communicate the mission of the university as a whole.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the creation, management, and delivery of IWU marketing videos from concept to final production
  • Build and maintain IWU residential YouTube and Vimeo accounts
  • Assists in managing a comprehensive video library
  • Keep updated on current trends and technologies related to videography
  • Act as one of the primary videographer for high level university events (graduation, convocations, chapels, etc.)
  • Seeks new and creative methods to create and share video– both informational and story– using smartphone apps. Supports media team into a new reality of storytelling by nimbly producing video content (daily/ weekly basis)
  • Execute the project development process from initial client consultation to concept creation, scripting, storyboarding, set design and set up, lighting, shooting, editing, final delivery, and post-project assessment
  • Build and manage a team of student contributors
  • Collaborate with the creative team on further content strategy
  • Direct shoots as required, and when appropriate, work under the direction of designers to obtain a final product that best communicates the desired message
  • Maintain a catalog of all video equipment
  • Remain current on trends and technologies related to videography
  • Assist with podcast editing
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communication, Media Arts, Photography, Film/Videography, or a related field

Experience

  • Two or more years of video and production experience

Required Skills

  • Must be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator) and able to function in a Mac environment
  • Must be able to tell stories creatively and concisely with a demonstrated skill in composition, lighting, and sound
  • Thorough knowledge of production techniques and equipment, including DSLRs, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras, Color Grading, mics, continuous and strobe lighting, interviewing, etc.
  • Knowledge of cameras from Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras to DSLRs
  • General knowledge of production principles and practices for photography and videography media
  • Basic ability to color correct and color grade RAW footage
  • Basic audio editing and mastering skills
  • Ability to develop, create, stage and/or produce professional quality visuals and evaluate production effectiveness in meeting objectives
  • Ability to acquire skills in and adapt to changes in technology quickly
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative and willingness to accept responsibility
  • Ability to work with a team in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate a customer service attitude and to develop effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to travel and work outside normal business hours or weekends when required, as shoots can take place in locations outside of Marion, Indiana
